1. Sailing tour along the Sinis coast (3 hours) — from €65 per person

The most balanced option for a first outing at sea: three hours of sailing along a coastline of limestone cliffs and coves that are hard to reach from land. Especially worth it in the late afternoon, when the light lights up the Capo San Marco cliff face. Suitable for families with children too.

2. Sailing tour along the Sinis coast (7.5 hours) — from €130 per person

The longer version of the trip above, for those who want to dedicate a full day to the sea, with time to swim in the coves.

3. Bike tour of the Sinis peninsula (4.5 hours) — from €80 per person

The best way to understand this territory: flat, windswept, with dirt tracks weaving through lagoons, Mediterranean scrub and beaches. You’ll ride through the places that define the Sinis identity, from lagoons full of flamingos to quartz sand beaches.

4. Bike tour of the Torregrande marina (4 hours) — from €60 per person

A lighter, more central alternative, good as a half-day option after a more demanding excursion.

5. Olive mill visit with oil tasting (2 hours) — from €40 per person

The most reviewed activity in the area, and the one we recommend most often: affordable, weather-independent, and a good fit for any type of guest. Montiferru oil is one of the area’s flagship products, and understanding how it’s made changes the way you look at inland Sardinia.

Guests knead malloreddus and culurgiones with people who’ve been making them for generations, then eat what they made. The ideal option for rainy or windy days, when boat trips get cancelled.

7. Jeep tour of Monte Gentilis and the Costa Verde with lunch (8 hours) — from €110 per person

A full day heading south, through abandoned mining villages and the dunes of the Costa Verde. The island’s most cinematic landscape, in an area you simply can’t reach without a 4×4 and a guide.

Some places don’t need a guided excursion — just a car and the right tip.

• The archaeological site of Tharros — a Phoenician-Punic city later built over by the Romans, set on a headland between two seas. Pair it with the Spanish watchtower of San Giovanni and the paleo-Christian church of the same name, among the oldest on the island.
• The Civic Museum of Cabras and the Giants of Mont’e Prama — larger-than-life Nuragic statues, the oldest of their kind in the Mediterranean. See them before Tharros, not after: it changes how you read the whole site.
• Is Arutas and the quartz beaches — sand made of white, green and pink quartz grains. Collecting it is prohibited and fined — one of the things we always explain to guests at check-in.
• The Cabras lagoon — flamingos, traditional fishing and bottarga (cured mullet roe), a signature product of the town.
• The sacred well of Santa Cristina in Paulilatino, further inland, with its astronomical alignment.

A well-organised three days, as we’d recommend it

Day 1 – Archaeology and sea. Morning at the Cabras Museum to see the Giants, lunch in town, afternoon at Tharros with a swim at San Giovanni di Sinis.

Day 2 – Open sea. Sailing trip along the Sinis coast, ideally in the afternoon for the sunset. Light dinner, and you’ll come back with salt still on your skin.

Day 3 – Flavours and the interior. Olive mill tasting in the morning, Santa Cristina well in the early afternoon, heading back via Lake Omodeo.

With a fourth day to spare, choose between the jeep tour to the Costa Verde and the Sinis bike tour. If the mistral is blowing hard, the pasta-making workshop is always the best fallback.
